When will the right time come to resign from the current occupation?

Making a decision to resign from the current occupation is one of the most difficult choice an employee ever takes. In this post, I state about resigning in the positive term. So, it is not when we got fired or we have some other awful things. But it is when we have a better bids from other companies or when we decide to open up a new startup business.

There are many essential considerations when we decide to resign from the current occupation. Some of them are :

1. Salaries

Some people regard this factor as the most influencing factor why we resign from the current occupation. The higher the salary they receive, the greater their interest to stay in that company.

My personal opinion : Money is really vital in our life. Without enough money, everything is possible to be a big problem. But some people exaggerate the importance of money. They regard that money is everything. They take money to a higher level above happiness and satisfaction. And I don’t hold with such an opinion. I prefer happiness and satisfaction to money although they say that money can buy happiness and satisfaction.

2. Works environment

Works environment is a crucial factor when we decide to stay in a company. When people like their works environment (comrades,situation), people will feel comfortable. They don’t even think about how much money they receive.

My personal opinion : There will be a strong willlingness for people to stay in a excellent works environment. But it really depends on their type of occupations. Some occupations necessitate people to be very self-centered. Other occupations necessitate people to be very sociable. Therefore, works environment is just a trivial problem for people who have to go very individualistic in their occupation

3. Challenges

Some people love the routines. Others hate it. This factor only applies to people who love challenges. They need money and works environment as well. But they need something to trigger their adrenaline in their work activity.

My personal opinion : I consider challenges as an important factor when deciding whether to resign from the current occupation or not. Its rank may slightly be above money.

So, when will the right time come to resign from the current occupation? My considerations depend on the previous factors and some other points.

• When we have really mastered all of the knowledges in the current occupation. There will be no more challanges for us to stay longer. We don’t grow up any longer
• When our works environment doesn’t suit our ultimate goals. It would be better for us to go away because there is no harmony when doing the job. But this is not really true because some other factors sometimes are more essential.
• When there is a better bid from other company. For some people this is really straightforward.

Actually, there are many other factors to consider to decide when the right time will be (ie. family supports, locations, etc). It may also be helpful to do some weighting in those factors. And I believe everyone has their own preferences, weighting and priorities.
